Fast forward to 1979. I got out of the military late in 1976 and began a short career in food service. By then I had an eight-year-old daughter and some power beyond me decided that it was time for another child. Knowing the additional expenses that a new mouth to feed brings I thought maybe we could get the old band together and just work weekends to earn a few extra dollars. Jim was up for it but we were all of the Squires that were left. Jim had always maintained contact with Roland from the original group and Roland agreed to give it a shot, but only on weekends. Remember, we all had full-time jobs. Jim contacted Doug McCutcheon who had worked with the Baskerville Hounds as their keyboard player and he came aboard. Then someone found Tom Napier who became our drummer.
Trust me, we sounded a lot better than we looked! If you don’t believe me listen to the two songs below which were recorded live on a two-channel reel-to-reel.
Left to Right: Me, Roland Solomon, Jim Brickner, Tom Napier, and Doug McCutcheon.
